Do You Know Me?
I am from the sea
Do you know me?
Perhaps you think of me as legend or folklore
Stories made up by those who came before
A tale spun throughout the ages
Passed between generations in varying stages
A myth stretching farther than the expanse of the sea
The very reason you no longer recognize me
Do you know me?
I am like you and you are like me
The only difference is that I live in the sea
The qualities that make you what you are
Also exist in me
Uniquely human, uniquely mermaid
The only difference is the sea
