The turbulent nature of our minds is explored in this thoughts poem.
Do you ever find yourself wondering why a thought you don't want suddenly pops into your head?
Or have you ever lain awake at night with a multitude of thoughts circling to and fro, wishing they would go? I know I have!
My thoughts churn with the ocean
As deep as the seafloor will take them
Branching out into underwater crevices
At times gushing streams of mayhem
The deep speaks to me
In currents as they flow
Water rushing sideways
Overhead and undertow
Around I spin in this vortex
Like Jacques Cousteau I wander
In the annals of the deep
Vast volumes there to ponder
How far to go before hitting bottom
Falling hard will I land
Or is my journey softened
By a seafloor of shifting sand
Drifting in and out of tidal streams
As a dream my mind caresses
Thoughts come and go like schools of fish
Their skillful synchrony impresses
Platitudes and attitudes direct and steer my flow
Like an underwater river, around the bend I go
Picked up by the current as it runs beneath the tide
At times so out of control, I'm only there for the ride
