Short Love Poem About beachcombers: "Beachcombers"

This short love poem about beachcombers arrived many moons ago when I was an impressionable teen.

I liked a boy from afar, and would stop at the gas station where he worked on my way to the beach. (Those were the days when an attendant pumped gas for you!) He had big blue eyes, and always greeted me with a bright smile.

When I got to the beach, I would imagine he and I walking together, and looking into those eyes—eyes as blue as the ocean. Though the fantasy never became reality, as often happens in youth, the verse remained.

A Short Poem About Love

Beachcombers

Beachcombers
You and me
Two souls together
We're destined to be
In our minds
Where all is free
In our hearts
Beside the sea
You and me

Take A Moment To Reflect

Beachcombers

Beneath The Surface

My inspiration for this poem does not define it. You do.

You may see certainty here. Or expectation. Or that love frees you to be who you are.

Whatever you find in it becomes part of the poem.

The Feeling Of This Poem

This poem carries deep connection, warm sand, and the intimacy of being alone together on a beach, as if in your own world.

It may resonate with those who feel the foreverness of finding your partner in life, alongside the vast, eternal expanse of the sea.

A Quiet Pause

If you'd like to linger a little longer:

  • How often are your hearts beside the sea, whether you're there or not?
  • Which image stayed with you?
  • What new verse would you place before "you and me?"

When You Might Return To This Poem

You might reach for this poem::

  • when holding a shell or smooth piece of sea glass
  • before a wedding or anniversary
  • when walking together on the beach
